JeepedIn FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Before I Sign Up, Tell me…

  • Do I have to own a Jeep?
No, this site is for anyone that has a love for Jeep®, the Jeep® life or the outdoor lifestyle.
  • Is this a dating site?
We are not a dating site. We are simply an online community of people who have similar interests and passions. However, we hope that those who are looking for that special someone do find them there! Jeepers are keepers!!
  • How do I get started?
Simply fill out the form to get registered. We have 2 levels of membership: SPORT level membership is completely free. RUBICON level membership is considered a premium level and gives you great bonus features and currently $2/mth.
  • Can I edit my username?
No, so make sure it’s something you want as it can not be changed. One member suggested people use their Twitter names to make it easier to spot friends. That is up to you.

How Do I Create an Account?

Now that I’m signed up…

  • Can I send a private message to another member?
Yes, however the private message ability is for RUBICON level members. If you are taken to the membership page you will need to upgrade your account.
  • How can I view members and see who is here?
Here is the link http://jeepedin.com/members/. Or you can got to a page with the GIve a Jeep Wave in the sidebar and click it, you will be taken to this same list of members. To become friends, click the “+” sign and it will send them a friend request.
  • Under what circumstances will JeepedIn ban a user?
As owners of the site, we determine what is considered inappropriate and what will be a violation that gets you banned. This includes anything lewd, fake, malicious, disparaging to users or to the site, deceitful, etc.. We use our best judgment and discretion and you should as well.
  • What is considered inappropriate behavior on the site?
We use our best judgment and so should you. One easy guideline: If you post something that is likely to generate complaints from more than one person, it probably is not acceptable. Also, if you act in a way which we deem inappropriate or otherwise unacceptable, we may ban you from the site. Jeepers are not creepers, so don’t be one either.
  • Where does the profile picture come from?
Your avatar will be used on your profile and throughout the site. If there is a Gravatar associated with your account email we will use that, or you can upload an image from your computer when you complete your profile.
  • Do you have a chat feature?
    Not currently but stay tuned!
  • How do upgrade to the RUBICON level membership?
    Go here and upgrade.
  • How do I search for members?
Click on the JeepMingle link in the top navigation, using the search box you can find friends, trail mates, or more. You do need to be a RUBICON level member to use this feature.
  • Can anyone use the chat feature? If so, where is it?
Every level of membership has access to instant chat. It is much like the Facebook messenger feature. Look in the bottom right hand corner of the screen to see who is logged in to chat and simply start a chat with them. If you do not want to chat, or see the feature, click the slider button from green to gray.
  • Can I add someone to a group?
You must be a “friend” before you can send an invite to another member to join a group. In order to be a friend, you go to their profile and send a friend request. You can do this by going to their profile, or by going to the http://jeepedin.com/members/ link and clicking the “+” on their name. This is a RUBICON member feature.
  • What is the difference between a Group and a Forum here?
Every Group can have it’s own Forum. So, let’s say you are in a group called Arizona Jeepers and you want to start a topic asking about AZ trails specifically. That group will have it’s own Forum with a thread called “Where are the best trails in AZ?”.
  • I have a general question about Jeep accessories, where do I ask it?
The first place to look is the Search Forums search bar in the sidebar. If this was discussed on the site it will show in the results. As the site grows so will the database/forum, so ask away!
  • What should I do if there is something I don’t like about this site?
Speak up and let us know! Open a ticket here at jeepedin.com/contact. We are constantly adding to and improving the site and we want to hear from you.

How Not to be a Creeper

    • Always display a positive, friendly attitude to other members and respect others’ opinions. Allow others to freely voice their opinions even if you disagree with them.

    • Do not deliberately start arguments. We encourage healthy debate, but please maintain respect for others.

    • The Forum works best with mutual support. Each time you get help from someone on the Forum, pay it forward and support someone else in return.

    • Be patient in waiting for a reply to your post. The Forum is busy and it may take time for people to notice and formulate a worthwhile reply.

    • It is not helpful or supportive just to make a negative statement or criticism, be supportive to other members, and help them to learn.

    • If you disagree with someone, criticize the idea or opinion, not the person.

    • Insults and abuse of other members is not tolerated.

  • Any individual may only register with one username on JeepedIn.
